LAWRENCE, KANSAS \u2013 June 12, 2025<\/em> \u2014 In a significant milestone following its recent rebrand, Vocal Point<\/strong> \u2014 formerly known as Georgia Radio Reading Service, Inc.<\/strong> \u2014 made a soft revealing at the 2025 IAAIS Conference<\/strong>, held June 11\u201314 in Lawrence, Kansas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosted by the International Association of Audio Information Services (IAAIS)<\/strong>, the annual conference brings together radio reading service organizations from across the United States who are dedicated to advancing accessible media for individuals who are blind, have low vision, or experience print impairments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Vocal Point, this marked not only a first appearance under its new name but also a moment of reaffirmation: that the organization remains rooted in its decades-long mission while embracing a future with expanded reach, modern tools, and a renewed voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis year\u2019s conference wasn\u2019t just about new technology or exchanging program ideas,\u201d said Miracle Fleming, Media & Outreach Coordinator at Vocal Point. \u201cIt was about showing up with an elevated mission and fresh heart to collaborate ideas to enhance the level of accessible information.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

A New Chapter, National Stage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The 2025 IAAIS Conference<\/strong> served as a meaningful stage for Vocal Point\u2019s revitalized presence and soft introduction. The International Association of Audio Information Services (IAAIS)<\/strong> is a global, volunteer-driven network of organizations that transform printed text into spoken word for individuals who cannot see, hold, or comprehend traditional print due to a disability or health condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its founding in 1977, IAAIS has set standards of excellence for audio information services, supporting more than 80 member organizations across the United States and worldwide. From public radio stations to university-affiliated services, its members span countries such as Canada, the UK, Australia, Japan, and South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Vocal Point\u2014formerly Georgia Radio Reading Service\u2014this conference was more than just a professional gathering. It was a symbolic first step on the national stage under a new name and a renewed vision. While the branding has evolved, the mission remains the same: to serve Georgia\u2019s blind, low vision, and print-impaired community with dignity, clarity, and purpose<\/strong>\u2014and now, with a voice recognized across a broader network of peers and partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over four days, Vocal Point\u2019s team engaged in workshops and networking sessions focused on emerging trends in audio broadcasting, adaptive technology, storytelling, fundraising, and more. Sessions on inclusive programming, AI-assisted reading tools, and volunteer development offered key takeaways that will help Vocal Point better serve its expanding audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why the Rebrand?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As of June 2025, Georgia Radio Reading Service officially became Vocal Point<\/strong>, a name designed to reflect its deeper purpose. The new identity reflects a deeper commitment to building meaningful connections through inclusive audio content, expanding access through integrated technology, and uplifting individuals with print-related disabilities by centering dignity, community, and empowerment at the core of everything we do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018Vocal Point\u2019 captures who we are today and who we\u2019re becoming,\u201d said Christine Stuckey, Volunteer Manager at Vocal Point. \u201cIt\u2019s not just about reading the news\u2014it\u2019s about creating a place where every voice is valued and heard.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming out of the conference, Vocal Point<\/strong> is charting a bold path forward. Plans are underway to roll out new volunteer training strategies<\/strong>, invest in accessible content tools<\/strong>, and deepen statewide partnerships<\/strong>. With a redesigned website now live and a series of interactive community events and public engagement campaigns on the horizon<\/strong>, the organization aims to strengthen its connection with the people it serves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This debut on the national stage marks the beginning of a new era\u2014one rooted in people-first service, driven by original, engaging audio content<\/strong>, and guided by a clear vision of equity, inclusion, and accessibility in media<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
